Teaching Christian Citizenship is a resource that can be widely used by teachers of Key Stage 2 children and aims to encourage thought, discussion and debate whilst demonstrating that Christianity provides a strong basis for good citizenship and guidance in PSHE.
Each of the 16 units begins with a contemporary story, which links to a biblical story. These are followed by group and individual activities based around the stories, which include: Literacy (with different activities provided for year 3-4 and year 5-6 children), Drama, Citizenship and PSHE, Circle Time, Prayer and Hymns. The book is fully photocopiable.Each unit has clear links showing how it relates to the National Curriculum for PSHE and Citizenship.

Living in Kent with John and their daughter Laura, she teaches at Wittersham Church of England Primary School where she says a strong Christian ethos is evident.Gaynor’s week of active citizenship, portraying the Bible as a book for life, won the Kent SACRE award for Wittersham School in 2001.She feels that true citizenship has always been taught at Primary level through Christianity, and firmly believes in the importance of the guidance of Faith, rather than the merely secular delivery of Citizenship.
