Quick Overview

Raising a Passionate Generation of Young People and Children for Jesus
If we don't proactively pour the life of the Kingdom into our children, they will absorb the life of the media, their peers, and of a world which is taking its last gasps, sinking into disarray on the pathway to destruction,' writes Daphne Kirk. Children's unique formative years are being eroded and their futures formed by ungodly influences. The message of this book is clear: it is an urgent wake-up call for the Body of Christ to raise a generation who know their God and who have an uncompromising passion for Jesus. When we grasp our edict, then the impact throughout the earth will be clearly seen. 'Born for Such a Time as This' powerfully addresses the need for us to equip children and young people for mission and evangelism – statistically we have not been winning the battle for this generation. Why do we have so many children with no discipleship and so few adults prepared and with a vision to pass on to them? Here is a book to convict, inspire, challenge and equip you for this very purpose. The Holy Spirit is moving through the Body of Christ, bringing about transformation of vision, structures and values – the question is, are we ready for that revolution?

INTRODUCTION

The time is short - we can no longer leave the destiny of our
children and young people to chance and hope that they
will make it.

We are entrusted by God to raise children and young people for their Heavenly Father; we are his agents in their lives. My hope and prayer is that this book will inspire, challenge and equip you for this very purpose. I long for this generation of children and young people to be raised to have an uncompromising passion for Jesus and a heart for mission and evangelism and, just like David in Psalm 71:18, I pray: 'Don't let me die till I tell the next generation your wonderful works, your power to all who are to come'. It is my prayer that these words are restored to the hearts of God's people all over the world.
The time is short - we can no longer leave the destiny of our children and young people to chance and merely hope that they will make it. We can no longer hand over their eternal destiny to others. Just as we are responsible for other areas of their lives, we must be responsible for training the young as children and servants of the Most High God.
From the time that they are born, we dream about their future. The time has come to dream about their eternal destiny, to dream God's dreams. They will be on this earth for a few short years; for a few short years they are alive to serve the purpose of God in their generation. Before the foundation of the world God had plans for them.
This is what he said to a boy called Jeremiah: ' Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations' (Jeremiah 1:5). Have you ever thought that you might be trusted with prophets to the nations?
God has prepared a table for the children and young people of the nations. All we have to do is take them to the table and they will eat. Children who have never been taught about prayer are praying, children who have never heard of the prophet are prophesying, young people who have not seen a miracle are laying hands on the sick, who are being healed. We have been commissioned to raise and equip this generation - to train them as soldiers of the Most High God. What greater task could we have?
The only limits are those that we place on them. Isaiah 43:19 says: 'See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.' Children and young people all over the world are making a highway for the King - that highway is going through places of desert and waste, and the King is riding that highway through the lives of a prophetic generation of children and young people.
Let's take hold of this generation; if we don't, the world certainly will. If we don't proactively pour the life of the Kingdom into them, they will absorb the life of the media, their peers, and of a world which is taking its last gasps, sinking into disarray and fear on the pathway to destruction. We can breathe into them the life of a kingdom which will never die, which is reaching its final glorious climax, and which will explode around the majesty of the throne of God.

Children and young people all over the world are making a
highway for the King.
