Penny was born in a village in Berkshire and grew up in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex. She attended a three-year acting course at a performing arts school in London. After graduating , Penny decided against a glittering, highly-acclaimed and award-winning career on the stage and screen and instead devoted herself tirelessly to the work of selling programmes and ice-cream in various West End theatres, including a number of years with the Royal Shakespeare Company at the Barbican.
She then began to develop her interest in writing drama and her first play 'Under the Kitchen Sink' was produced on the London Fringe at a venue in Clapham, followed by the public reading of a subsequent work, at Battersea Arts Centre. She has also written comedy sketches for the Theatre Royal, Stratford East, for their variety nights.
Penny currently lives in South London where she persues a keen love of music and eating desserts.
