Jonathan Mayall Music: Editor's Choice Review by Luke Huffey
-
Although there are many of these well-known classical melodies in other volumes, to have hit after hit after hit in one place will prove invaluable for the hard-pressed teacher. The standard is mixed and not progressively arranged but none the worse for it. Most are pretty straightforward with unison rhythms in easy keys but there are enough exceptions to keep everyone interested. For example, Vivaldi's Autumn looks easy but is in E flat major and both Ave Maria and Ravel's Pavan are in 4 flats, which will add that extra dimension. As usual, Kevin Mayhew has produced this book beautifully at a very good price. You just can't go wrong here! (Posted on 27/04/2010)
