After studying church history whilst training for the Methodist ministry, Peter Dainty was ordained in 1963 and ministered in two circuits (Brigg and Pontefract). He moved to Bury St Edmunds in 1971 to teach at Culford School (an independent Methodist co-educational boarding and day school) where he stayed until his retirement in 2001.
