Alan Bartlett has been vicar of three churches around Durham City for nine years and is moving to become Clergy Development Advisor for Durham Diocese. He has degrees from the universities of Cambridge, Birmingham and Durham and has served in the North East since 1991. Previously he was in charge of the post-graduate degrees at Cranmer Hall and taught spirituality, church history, practical theology and Anglicanism. He is still involved in theological education.
His Bible Studies have already been widely published. He is the author of Humane Christianity, A Passionate Balance and contributed to The Christian Handbook of Abuse, Addiction and Difficult Behaviour and Faith Matters – A Comprehensive Introduction to Christianity and Christian Faith, both published by Kevin Mayhew.
Before ordination, Alan was a youth worker, housing worker and research student. Alan is married to Helen, a Railway Chaplain, and they have two adult children and two dogs, Bennie and Pip.
