Lesley Orr

Lesley Orr is a historian, writer and activist, previously at Glasgow University and currently based at Scottish Women's Aid to develop the Scottish Government's national strategy to address violence against women. She has degrees in philosophy, politics, theology, religious and ecclesiastical history, and has researched published and taught practical theology, religious and social history. She was consultant to the World Council of Churches project 'Overcoming Violence Against Women' and coordinated an action-research project at Edinburgh University entitled Out of the Shadows: Christianity and violence against women in Scotland. Her roots are in the Church of Scotland and she has a lifelong involvement in the ecumenical Iona Community.
