Quick Overview

A chinchilla ‘alarm clock’, a football mascot who happens to be an ageing cocker spaniel with an arthritic hip and a man handcuffed to a case of gold bars – just a few of the oddities readers will encounter in this funny and thought-provoking book of drama sketches.

Covering topics such as loneliness, courage, failure and perseverance, to name but a few, these 25 sketches are a great starting point for discussion and are deliberately straightforward to stage, using minimal props and costumes.

You don't have to be a professional actor to be involved, and the sketches are great fun for the performers and the audience alike. Participants have plenty of opportunities to express themselves as dramatically as they wish to as they explore their character's personality within the dialogue and deliver their lines.

Suitable not only for use in a church setting but also for occasions such as school assemblies, or you might just want to read through the book alone and chuckle to yourself!

Penny was born in a village in Berkshire and grew up in Clacton-on-Sea, Essex. She attended a three-year acting course at a performing arts school in London. After graduating, Penny decided against a glittering, highly-acclaimed and award-winning career on the stage and screen and instead devoted herself tirelessly to the work of selling programmes and ice-cream in various West End theatres, including a number of years with the Royal Shakespeare Company at the Barbican.
