Arranged by: Tim WellsThis is Associated Board MaterialEveryone sings - whether you push a lung-full of air though a larynx in an opera house, pull a bow across a string in a concert hall, blow breath though a tube in an orchestra, or even just sing in the shower - everyone sings. All too often people forget to sing when playing an instrument, but for beginners and young children, knowing the music they are supposed to be singing gives them a useful head start. Therefore, a natural choice of themes for this collection was opera, as so many operatic arias have become famous through their use by the media - many of the following arias will be recognised from television adverts and the like. 'If music be the food of love, sing on... The melody is shared between the parts, with each carrying the tune and accompaniment, encouraging musical ensemble playing. The jazzier arrangements feature strong syncopation to help develop a sense of rhythm, whilst slower pieces concentrate on timbre and tuning. Short pieces can be repeated swapping over parts for variety.Generally the simpler pieces are found towards the front of the book, with the more challenging ones at the end. The broad spectrum of styles will appeal to players of all ages and abilities from grade 2 upwards, and the familiar tunes will make sight-reading easy and rewarding

Chopin's Waltzes are full of fun and sparkle with catchy rhythms and fine tunes. They were mostly written for his pupils and are not of great difficulty although they do call for quick fingerwork and, like all Chopin's music, deeply expressive playing.FOREWORDChopin's Waltzes are full of fun and sparkle with catchy rhythms and fine tunes. They were mostly written for his pupils and are not of great difficulty although they do call for quick fingerwork and like all Chopin's music, deeply expressive playing.Much editorial amendment has been made to Chopin's music, mainly because of his reluctance to make fair copies of his works. He entrusted a lot of this to Julian Fontana, a personal friend, who even went so far as to imitate Chopin's handwriting. After his death, Chopin's family asked Julian Fontana to examine all the unpublished music and arrange for it to be generally available. This was contrary to Chopin's wish, expressed on his deathbed, that all his unpublished music should be destroyed. Fontana's edition appeared in 1855 and Chopin's autographed manuscripts were destroyed. This led to suspicions that Fontana had made changes. However, in the absence of the originals, the Fontana version remains of great importance and the doubts cannot be confirmed. He also claimed to include some of the composer's revisions in his edition.Chopin's Waltzes are a wonderful collection which will continue to give much pleasure to both listener and performer.Colin MawbyContentsThematic IndexForewordGrande Valse Brilliante in E flat Op. 18Grande Valse Brilliante in A flat Op. 34 No. 1Grande Valse Brilliante in A minor Op. 34 No. 2Grande Valse Brilliante in F Op. 34 No. 3Waltz in A flat Op. 42Waltz in D flat Op. 64 No. 2Waltz in C# minor Op. 64 No. 2Waltz in A flat Op. 64 No. 3Waltz in A flat Op. 69 No. 1 (Autograph version)Waltz in A flat Op. 69 No. 1 (Fontana version)Waltz in B minor Op. 69 No. 2 (Autograph version0Waltz in G flat Op. 70 No. 1 (Autograph version)Waltz in G flat Op. 70 No. 1 (Fontana version)Waltz in F minor Op. 70 No 2 (Autograph version)Waltz in F minor Op. 70 No 2 (Fontana version)Waltz in D flat Op. 70 no. 3Waltz in A flat PosthumousWaltz in E PosthumousWaltz in E flat PosthumousWaltz in E minor PosthumousWaltz in E flat (Sostenuto) PosthumousWaltz in A minor Posthumous
