Haydn wrote his trumpet concerto in 1796 for Anton Weidinger (1767-1852), the trumpeter in the Court Orchestra in Vienna.Weidinger is considered to have been the finest exponent of this instrument. His experiments resulted in the creation of a fully chromatic trumpet, and it is obvious that Haydn's concerto was written for this instrument. Also includes a Bb trumpet part.

In his parables, Jesus used examples of human behavior to open up to his listeners a deeper understanding of God. Today's world is no less rich in such similes. On these CDs Chris Morley, a popular broadcaster on the Terry Wogan show, takes examples of quirky human behaviour and uses them to offer ways into reflecting on God and our response to him. The Advent reflections allow us, in the busy weeks before Christmas, to remind ourselves what it means that God embraced humanity, and rejoice in the Spirit of God which is within us all. Storytelling is a vital part of our faith: people passing on the stories of their belief by word of mouth or in written form. Written in child-friendly language, this book follows that tradition, enabling children to hear the stories of their faith as engaging and interesting accounts of real events and real people. Key events and people have been selected and arranged so that, in the Old Testament, children can understand the developing story of the people of God and, in the New Testament, they can easily access different aspects of the life and ministry of Jesus. This is an ideal book for reading at home, for church and also for school, where it gives children ready access to the stories they need to underpin their work in RE lessons. It allows them to understand their story as a people of God.

Heart to Heart - Reflective thoughts and prayers by Nick Fawcett. Is there a right way to pray? Definitely not. What works for one leaves another cold, so much depending on our background, character, tradition and, above all, our understanding and experience of God. The one essential is that prayer comes from the heart, honestly expressing what we want to say to God. Some find that the only way to do this is through extemporising their own prayers; others find this well-nigh impossible, needing written prayers to help articulate their own thoughts and feelings. Most fall somewhere in the middle, quite happy to pray privately and personally, but finding written prayers a helpful stimulus. This book aims to provide such a stimulus, offering 75 reflective prayers exploring the nature and journey of Christian discipleship. Drawn from various of Nick Fawcett's study books published over the recent years, each is prefaced by a brief passage of Scripture followed by a short introduction, both designed to set the context of the prayer itself. The prayers are conversational in tone, reflecting the fact that God invites us to open our hearts to him as a friend, in the knowledge that his heart is open to us in turn.

Two travellers on the road to Emmaus said to each other, 'Were not our hearts burning within us while he was talking to us on the road?' These meditations celebrate the joy of meeting up with Jesus, of knowing the risen Lord. They rejoice that Jesus is alive and present with us now. There is a meditation for each day from Ash Wednesday to the Saturday after Easter. Each meditation has a passage of Scripture, where the life-giving powers of God are seen to be at work. The aim is to help us spend time with the risen Lord. To explore the Scripture readings, David Adam uses the ancient tradition of Lectio Divina, Holy Reading. The purpose of these meditations is not study, though information is provided, but to be still in the presence of God and rejoice in his saving power.

Does prayer seem remote from daily life? Out of touch with the modern world? It can. Yet to be worth anything, faith must relate to our day-to-day existence, touching us where we are. In Heaven Tounding Earth, the commonplace and the ordinary provide the backdrop to an encounter with God so that every part of life might be enlightened by his presence.
