        Martin Setchell

Martin Setchell is an internationally acclaimed concert organist and composer dedicated to promoting the organ as an entertaining instrument for wide audiences. Born in the UK and educated at the University of Exeter, he won both the Limpus and Shinn prizes upon receiving his Fellowship of the Royal College of Organists before emigrating to New Zealand in 1974. After a distinguished 40-year career as Associate Professor of Music at the University of Canterbury, he now focuses on his work as a freelance musician and as curator of the Rieger pipe organ in the Christchurch Town Hall. Martin has performed solo tours across Europe, the Americas, and the Far East in venues ranging from the Mormon Tabernacle to St Paul’s Cathedral, London. As a composer, he is published by Kevin Mayhew and is known for his tuneful, accessible organ and choral music, as well as his popular transcriptions of orchestral works.
