Description: Christ Our Peace

Christ Our Peace offers six short, reflective services for use throughout Lent and Holy Week. Drawing on the early Church's tradition of using the weeks before Easter as a time of instruction, reflection and meditation, this collection provides one service for each of the four Sundays in Lent, together with Passion Sunday and Palm Sunday.

Written by Stuart Thomas, the services are designed to be used flexibly. Each can stand on its own, but the individual elements - prayers, responses, songs and meditations - can equally be extracted and used in other contexts. The material is based on the ASB readings and themes for each Sunday in Lent, but is entirely independent and may be used by churches or Christian groups of any tradition.

Recognising that quieter, more reflective services may not attract vast congregations, the book takes its inspiration from Christ's promise to be present 'wherever two or three are gathered'. There is space for silence and meditation, with suggestions for hymns from the New Anglican Edition of Hymns Old and New that match the thoughtful tone of the liturgy throughout.
