Close Encounters

In this devotional Lenten book, Eleanor Watkins meditates upon the transforming personal encounters with Jesus recorded in the Gospels - from the big characters to the little boy who had the five loaves and the two fish - and draws the reader into those encounters.

For each of the forty days of Lent there is a presentation of a different character accompanied by a reading, a reflection and a prayer.

About Eleanor Watkins

Eleanor Watkins is the award-winning author of over fifty books, most of them fiction for children and YA. Many of them are situated in the rural scene with which she has lived her life, first as a farmer's daughter and then as a farmer's wife.

She loves the natural world, the rhythm of the seasons, meeting people, books, animals, growing things. She and her husband still live in a centuries old farmhouse overlooking the beautiful Wye Valley and the Book Town of Hay-on-Wye. They have four adult children, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
