Andrew Moore
Andrew Moore (b.1954) is a composer, arranger and conductor. He is also a
Catholic priest. At the Royal Academy of Music he studied violin, organ and
advanced orchestral conducting and at Cambridge University he studied theology.
For many years he was monastic and school choirmaster at Downside Abbey and
School before moving to the Portsmouth Diocese. Alongside his priestly ministry
he has composed widely for the liturgy - mass settings, anthems and motets,
responsorial psalms and, of course, a wide range of organ music to suit not only
different liturgical needs but also a wide range of abilities. He has also composed
and arranged much instrumental music, especially music for string orchestra in his
capacity as conductor of the Winchester Camerata.
