This book (and book 2 as well) will hold 'listener attentions' without being overwhelming. Hard to tell my favorite Kevin Mayhew composer. Malcolm Archer (BBC) and June Nixon (Australia) are a couple that spring to mind plus many others that are similarly creative. All in a modern practical organ compositional style. What's not to love? Many thanks to Kevin Mayhew and his group of talented composers. PS. I started with the older "Complete Organist" Kevin Mayhew books back in the 90s.

These 2 books are very useful, especially for an organist who makes a living at some other job, and therefore has limited practice time. Most pieces can be learned quickly. I had mine spiral bound, so they will lie flat.
