June Nixon
June Nixon is one of Australia’s most celebrated organists, choir trainers, and composers, currently serving as Organist Emerita at St. Paul's Cathedral, Melbourne, where she was Director of Music for forty years. After early studies in Melbourne and London - where she became the first woman to win the John Brooke prize for Choir Training - she achieved widespread recognition, including the Australian National Organ Competition title, the Percy Jones Award, and appointment as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM). In 1999, she received a Lambeth Doctorate of Music from the Archbishop of Canterbury, and in 2024 was awarded a Fellowship of the Royal School of Church Music. A prolific composer published in the UK and USA, her works have been recorded by cathedral choirs worldwide and featured multiple times in the King’s College, Cambridge Nine Lessons and Carols.
