Have you ever wished the world was more like a musical, with characters bursting into song at the slightest provocation?
In the nativity story, there are four sudden, Spirit-filled songs from the heart, and they're all still used in the rhythm of liturgy: Zechariah's song (the Benedictus) Mary's song (Magnificat) the song of the angels (Gloria in Excelsis) and Simeon's song (Nunc Dimittis). In 'They Sang', Amy Scott Robinson uses four Advent studies to guide small groups to explore these ancient poems of praise and prophecy, and a fifth invites you to discover your own song.Containing work from artist Clare Howard Weiner - available to download in the 'Resources' tab.

Marcus Green makes three startlingly honest confessions. His first, that he is an Anglican; his second, that he is an evangelical; and finally, his third, that he is gay. It is these uncompromising and at times conflicting standpoints that make the basis for this compelling, compassionate, perhaps controversial but absolutely crucial book on attitudes towards homosexuality in the Christian faith.Rational yet fiercely passionate, Marcus starts by tackling some of the Scriptures that have been used to condemn gay people. He then looks beyond these texts to the bigger biblical story, taking the reader on a journey that reveals the Bible as a place of radical inclusion and love. Finally, addressing the conservative contemporary orthodoxy often expected of the Christian community, Marcus explores the alienation and division that the 'party line' has on Christians both gay and straight, and offers an alternative vision of hope.Through every page, Marcus Green challenges us to embrace 'the rather glorious possibilities of difference', and thus to 'become the fully equal children of God'.

Forty Days of Praying and Pondering Through Lent...
In these reflections for Lent, Barbara Glasson leads us through forty days focusing on the theme of water: its power, potential, terror and gentleness, providing a deep well of daily prayer and meditation.
Covering issues both domestic and international, Barbara seeks to centre our Lenten reflections on the water that both gives us life and which challenges us to live for justice.
As Barbara herself says: ‘Our relationship with water is primal: all life depends on the abundance of a fresh, clean water supply. And yet so many live with drought, thirst and wilderness. In these reflections, I hope you will come to understand the power and beauty of water, and how it relates to the transformative, sustaining power of prayer.’

New Celtic Monasticism for Everyday People offers ancient roots for future routes.Christendom is over. The expressions of Christianity many of us grew up with belong to a receding past. The great emergence of new monasticisms is the future, but aspirations alone are not enough. This book sets out a practical way to embrace a rhythm of prayer, learning, earth-care, and healing, and tells the story of a small but worldwide, growing network of people who follow this way and find it life-giving.This revised edition is taken from the no longer available A Pilgrim Way (1500745) includes resources and study material for individuals and groups, and invites them to join the Pilgrim Way.

From Georgie Tennant
The God Who Sees You is a series of 30 reflections to help us overcome the uneasy feeling that plagues so many of us: that we are unseen, unacknowledged, unloved, misunderstood. As Georgie Tennant takes us on a journey from the Old Testament through to the New, she examines the stories of a variety of Biblical characters - some household names and some unheard of - who felt these things too. As they encountered a God who saw them, understood them and called them higher, so too can you.
Each reflection takes the reader deeply into the Biblical narrative and offers a suggestion for a song to listen to, connected to each theme, as well as questions for personal reflection to help you on your journey to feeling seen, valued and secure.
"For any Christian who isn't constantly riding on the crest of a faith-wave (hint: that's all of us), Georgie's devotional is balm to the soul. A spiritual gem to return to whenever we're feeling invisible or insignificant: for this is the God who sees."- Lucy Rycroft

The Confirmation Experience aims to celebrate Confirmation in a way that grows a healthy community of Christians. Using the image of a journey, there are twelve very varied events rather than a course of study, in which all candidates take part together, along with other members of the church community. Each candidate starts a personal logbook and there are four different styles to choose from: 11-14 years, 15-18 years, adult and 11-adult with assistance. Presentation books of prayers for the newly confirmed help them to think and pray through the issues raised. One version is designed for young people and another for adults. The Confirmation Experience is a whole church community preparation for a life-long journey of faith in Jesus Christ.

How a prodigal church might save the planet...The world is in a mess and that mess is getting worse. Climate change is rapidly destroying God's creation. Our poorest neighbours are already suffering acutely but it will be our children and grandchildren who bear the full impact of the disaster. If the Church rediscovered the real meaning of Jesus it could play a pivotal role in averting this catastrophe. Instead, it frets about its own survival and agonises over who is sleeping with whom. The human race is staring into the abyss. Compared to the effects of climate change, nuclear war would be a stroll in the park. This book points a way forward that could bring life and hope to the planet - and the Church.
Incoming affirmation: 'Fine book. Let's hope it's not too late' - Richard Rohr (New Mexico, USA)
John Barton, Oriel Laing Professor of Biblical Interpretation at Oxford for more than 20 years: "I've read your book with much interest. It's highly readable and also very challenging and needs to be widely read."

People are as hungry today as they have ever been for meaning, thirsty for hope. This book, drawing on words of wisdom from a host of people and traditions, religious and secular, responds to that yearning, offering 100 reflections aimed to encourage, challenge, guide and inspire. Having lived with an incurable blood cancer for nearly ten years, Nick writes simply as one who has increasingly come to appreciate the value of each day, the beauty of the moment, the precious gift we have of this thing called life.

In today's all-go world, many of us do not allow ourselves to enjoy the tranquillity of the world. They have forgotten the wonders of becoming one with a still, peaceful and holy environment. Susan Sayers' book, Reflective Services, outlines 40 quiet and gentle acts that will help you achieve a greater sense of love for the Lord. Most of the services focus on individual qualities in the God we worship, such as wisdom, compassion or refreshment; and there are also themed services for morning and evening, and for particular occasions, such as conferences and parish meetings, reconciliation and rededication. All the forms of worship provide times of extended silence, Scripture reading, hymns and spoken exchanges between leaders and participants. The emphasis is on corporate worship, the body of Christ's people together, and creating an atmosphere that is conducive to wholehearted worship and receptivity to God. To him be the glory. Originally published as To Worship in Stillness and Be Still.
