Ooffy Socks And Other Unusual Hymns For Children
John Campbell has written a brand-new collection of 80 innovative songs for children and young people, set to well-known and attractive, easily accessible tunes. He has chosen children-friendly, often lively tunes, lowered to make them easily singable, so that the hymns can be sung immediately, with the focus on the words, not concentrating on learning a new tune. Many of these songs contain word play or even newly-invented words. There are a few tunes not usually found in a hymn book and these have all been recorded with their full lyrics on the accompanying tracks.John Campbell isn't afraid to tackle big, difficult issues but it's certainly not all serious. The Bible is woven into almost all the songs, in ways that connect with life for young people today. Here is a collection that is sure to challenge, encourage, engage and intrigue. To view the full contents Click Here

Songs From The Sea For Trumpet
These 12 familiar sea shanties for trumpet, with piano accompaniment, by well-known composer and arranger, Colin Mawby remind us of the important naval tradition of many countries. He recommends that they are played with vitality, excitement and panache.ContentsBlow the man downBlow the wind southerlyBobby ShaftoeBound to the Rio GrandeFire down belowHighland laddieMy bonnie lies over the oceanPay me the money downSacramentoThe keel rowThe saucy ArethusaWhat shall we do with the drunken sailor?FOREWORDThere is a long and ancient tradition of sea shanties. They were used to assist sailors in the difficult task of manning sailing ships. Just as much as dancing helped to keep seamen fit, so the shanty was sung to lighten the physical strain of working in often brutal conditions. The rhythm of the songs fitted the rhythm of the job and it helped to create a very necessary sense of team spirit. Each task had its own shanty. They were usually sung by a leader (the Shantyman) with the sailors singing the chorus as they worked. Jobs like raising the anchors, hoisting the sails or manning the capstan were hard, back-breaking work. Shanties encouraged the men to keep at it!These arrangements should be played with vitality and excitement. You are reliving a very important part of the naval tradition of many seafaring countries
